To encourage loved ones to get vaccinated, stop making these mistakes and start doing what works.

All over America, people are giving up. After months of asking, begging, shaming, and ostracizing folks who are vaccination-hesitant or anti-vax, they want government and businesses to use stricter methods like vaccination mandates and passports.

The frustration is understandable, but those sorts of heavier handed “solutions” probably won’t be effective in time to protect the people we care about. We need a better way to directly make a difference among our friends and family regardless of outside policies.

If you’ve been trying to change minds without success, it may be hard to believe change is still possible. What can you say that hasn’t already been said? What evidence would be more compelling than more than 600 thousand Americans dead and counting?

Before we get into what you should say, let’s talk about what you shouldn’t say. I suspect the main reason some people still haven’t gotten vaccinated is because we’re saying the wrong things to them — we’re not just failing to persuade, we’re actively dissuading.
