Google chooses PWA
The same day Google disclosed their plans to introduce the “badge of shame”, the company also published a post unveiling its vision of the future of the web, praising WebAssembly, Advanced Capabilities, and Progressive Web Apps.
“Web apps need to behave like other applications and be in the places users expect them to be in order to earn a central place in our lives. Our answer is Progressive Web Apps (PWAs).” — Chromium Team
Google was endorsing PWAs for quite a long time. Already in 2015 Alex Russell, a senior software engineer at Google, outlined the first requirements for what it will be known as “Progressive Web Apps”.
Since then, the whole industry has been working on “bluring the line” between web pages and native apps, with Google, Microsoft and Samsung being the most vocal advocates of Progressive Web Apps.
PWA technology does just that, providing consumers with ultra fast, seamless app-like browsing experience!
No wonder leading companies like Alibaba, Forbes, Twitter, and others were among the first to implement the technology with great success.
