Project Asura is an Indian themed horror game with elements of Among Us.

What does Asura mean?

Premise:

Two out of 8 players in a village have been infected by a curse that will turn them into a blood-thirsty monster in exactly 3 days. The village Councillor decided that it is up to the people who have been exposed to the curse to figure out and kill the two people in the team who are the infected and only if at the end of the third day none of the remaining people in the village convert, the remaining villagers will come rescue them. Otherwise, they will be left for dead and will be killed/converted by the demons who are still alive on the third day.

Players:

The core game will consist of 8 players out of which:

  • Two players are randomly assigned the role of “Demon” who’s task is to kill the villagers before the third day.
  • The remaining players are normal villagers who have to complete set tasks to lift the curse (or) vote out both the cursed by the end of the third day.

How do the villagers figure out who the “Demon” is?

The demon can transform into their monster form at any time during which he will be allowed to kill other players in the game. When in the Demon form, the player will have a 10 second cool down at the end of which he will be transformed back to his human form. The other villagers will not be able to tell who the cursed player is when they are in their demon form, so to figure it out the villagers have one of two options:

  • Follow the demon and see him transform back to a human at the end of his cool down.
  • Whenever the demon kills a player, they are automatically transformed to their human form.

There is a bell at the middle of the map which the players can use at any time to call a meeting. The villagers are forced to kill one player by the end of the meeting by voting them out. The player with the most votes will automatically be killed by the executioner. The meeting is also automatically called at the end of every night if no player rings the bell during night.

Abilities

  • All players: can crouch, vault, run and complete tasks
  • Demons: Can transform and kill players. They get back to their human form when they either kill another villager or their timer runs out. The demon also moves 60% faster than a normal villager.
  • Villagers: Normal characters. Can run around and do their respective tasks. Can do everything a character can do except transform. All special abilities that a villager can use only affect the demons.

Day/Night Cycles (5 Minutes Each)

If no one rings the bell during night, a meeting is called automatically and the players are forced to kill a player who is alive.

Potential changes:

  • More ways for the players to die
  • Player revival Mechanics
  • Roles for each villager with special abilities
  • Real time voting
  • After vote during congregation, time crunch so you have to do tasks faster

The themes and mechanics are still a work in project and are subject to change.

Potential Problems:

  • The demon can abuse the bell system
  • The game can get over too quickly
  • Tasks can get repetitive
