Save the Elephants

Baby Elephant, 9" x 12", watercolor on paper

About this week’s charity

Save the Elephants (STE) was founded in 1993 and works to protect a future for elephants. To more effectively stop ivory poaching and end the demand for ivory, they founded the Elephant Crisis Fund in partnership with the Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN) in 2013. The Elephant Crisis Fund identifies and supports the most effective global partners to stop the killing of elephants, stop traffickers and stop the demand for ivory.

STE also conducts vital research to provide scientific insights into elephant behavior, intelligence, and long-distance movement. They assist in implementing a UN-level program that monitors the illegal killing of elephants. Their scientific data has helped shift international policy towards a better future for the elephants.

Our mission is to secure a future for elephants and to sustain the beauty and ecological integrity of the places they live; to promote man’s delight in their intelligence and the diversity of their world, and to develop a tolerant relationship between the two species.
