“Possible collaboration between Project DELTA and Pulse Lab Jakarta”
Today we would like to share some great news about our recent meeting with Pulse Lab, Jakarta.
Pulse Lab Jakarta (PLJ) is a research organization that was born out of a joint initiative of the United Nations and the government of Indonesia. Being the first innovation lab on its kind in Asia, this organization seeks to accelerate the discovery and adoption of data innovation to breach information gaps in the development and humanitarian sectors through big data and AI technologies.
Currently, PLJ is working on a project to translate various Indonesian dialects into English through an application they developed called “Translator Gator.” To this end, they are collecting the data needed for regional development and support the activities required for the project’s successful completion.
We discussed a possible role of Project DELTA as a facilitator of reliable information in Indonesian for governmental entities as well as citizens who may be exposed to biased or wrong information in the region of Southeast Asia.
Bearing this in mind, we believe Project DELTA can serve as a useful tool for Pulse Lab Jakarta research purposes.

“프로젝트 델타 팀과 Pulse Lab Jakarta 의 협업 가능성”
이번에 들려드릴 뉴스는 Pulse Lab Jakarta 과의 미팅 내용입니다.
Pulse Lab Jakarta는 UN Global Pulse와 인도네시아 정부가 공동출자한 연구 및 프로젝트 수행 기관입니다. 아시아태평양 지역 국가의 경제 개발, 원조 등의 활동에 데이터 사이언스 관련 연구 리서치 활동을 접목하여 보다 효율적이고 효과적인 프로젝트 수행을 할 수 있도록 지원하는 기관이며, 빅데이터와 인공지능 기술을 이용한, 더욱 체계적이고 분석적인 원조활동 프로젝트를 진행중입니다.
Pulse Lab Jakarta는 자체적으로 개발한 Translator Gator라는 앱을 통해 인도네시아어 및 인도네시아 내 여러 방언을 영어로 번역하여, 지역 개발에 필요한 데이터들을 수집하고 프로젝트에 필요한 리서치 활동을 지원 중입니다.
이 부분에서 프로젝트 델타와 인도네시아의 언어 불균형을 해결할 수 있는 방안에 대한 협업이 가능할 것으로 보입니다.
인도네시아 정부 뿐 아니라 동남아시아 국가의 공공 서비스 관련하여 제대로 이해하지 못하거나 잘못알고 있는 국민들에게 올바른 정보를 자국어로 쉽게 제공하는 툴로서의 델타 지식허브의 역할도 기대할 수 있다고 동의를 하였습니다.
이러한 협업 방안들을 토대로 앞으로 Pulse Lab Jakarta와 지속적인 연구 및 발전을 할 수 있을 것이라 생각합니다.
