Abraham Lincoln called democracy the rule of the people, for the people and by the people. Hence, it is often associated with electoral politics and political parties. However we at Project Democracy hold a firm belief that Democracy is a way of life that can thrive only in a culture of empathy, understanding and mutually respectful discourse. We also believe that the only way to infuse this culture into life and politics is by giving voice to people’s thoughts, stories and anecdotes on the same. Click here to know more about Project Democracy, its mission and philosophy.

On that note we invite you to contribute to Project Democracy by putting pen to paper.

All we ask is

1. Non-plagiarised, original content that has not been published elsewhere.

2. Kindly send us a short 300 words abstract/synopsis which will allow us to ascertain alignment of theme with our publication.

3. We recommend a length of between 800 and 1500 words for essays. On a case by case basis, we may accept longforms of no more than 3000 words.

4. We intend to be open minded about the genre of expression and will accept Essays, Op-eds, Fiction, Art work, personal anecdotes, poetry… feel free to get creative!

5. Try aligning broadly with our theme of democratic discourse in everyday life. The personal can be political, so you need not restrict yourself to the domain of electoral politics and governance. Take a look at our current posts to have a sense of what kind of stories we are looking for or check out the About Us page

6. The editorial team will revert to you within 4 business days upon receipt of your mail.
