We are really excited to announce that we have been accepted onto Start-Up Chile’s S Factory — a pre-accelerator for female founders!!

The S Factory is a 12-week government-backed pre-accelerator that aims to support female entrepreneurs in building high impact startups.

It offers:

  • A CLP$10,000,000 (or about £10,000) grant
  • 1 year resident visa
  • Co-working space in Santiago, Chile
  • The TSF Academy (workshops and talks)
  • Mentorship
  • Peer network support

We’ll be heading down to Santiago next month, ready for kick-off on 20th June.

What it means for Data Campfire

Opportunity to meet and learn from other entrepreneurs from around the world

The 29 other attendees on the program are from 14 other countries including Chile, USA, India, Colombia, Portugal, Philippines, Mexico, South Africa, Venezuela, Australia, Brazil, Vietnam and the UK. Our program will also be running alongside the larger Start-up Chile program which expands this network even more.

Receive guidance and advice from mentors

We will be paired with mentors who are relevant to us and have access to the Start-Up Chile mentors network which has over 50 mentors from a wide selection of industries and with vast amounts of experience.

Support our growth and development financially

We will receive a grant of approximately £10,000 (depending on the exchange rate!). This is equity free and can be used to support the development of Data Campfire and finance our stay whilst in the country.

Access to Spanish speaking users and partners

Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the world. We hope to continue developing our global perspective, building on our knowledge of the UK and South Korea. We are also very keen to get to know and learn from Chile’s open data scene.

Giving back — Social Impact

One of the goals of the program is to help develop the local entrepreneurial environment by facilitating the transfer of knowledge and skills from the attendees on the program. Chile has not had a very strong entrepreneurial culture, although this is changing in more recent years.

Part of why we wanted to apply for this accelerator was that we will have the opportunity to give back to the local community by sharing our experiences and knowledge through workshops, talks, mentorships and events.

Adelante

This opportunity will provide a great stepping stone for us in our journey ahead and we can’t wait to get started!

If you are in Chile or know people who are that we should connect with please let us know.

Now for some Duolingo cramming…!
