Why we make our data workshops Live Online
First of all, we launched our Live Online data workshops (in Spanish) :)
Live Online? How does it work?
It’s Online, and Live. You will get connected to a video call using Zoom with an instructor and 10–20 students in real time. You can learn from anywhere — you don’t have to rush after work or travel on weekends. And you can still have the benefits of in-person sessions — you can ask questions to the instructor directly, and you can work together with other students who share similar problems to solve.
Why making our workshops and courses Live Online?
Accessibility
Since 2017 at Data Campfire, we have run in-person workshops in Santiago, Chile, and London to teach hundreds of people how to work with data more effectively. We found that every time we organised our workshops, we wanted to make our workshops more accessible — price and location-wise so that more people could benefit from it. However, the cost of making in-person workshops was high, therefore the price could not be affordable for many people and it could only serve people in the city (Santiago and London). We realised making them online can reduce a lot of cost — time and money and allow for people from outside the cities to attend.
Better Learning Experience
We want to make sure that our students are taken care of — with their questions answered and with sufficient support for those who often get stuck with tricky code issues. We believe in learning by doing and that learning together is always more effective and fun. We often create mini-projects during our workshops, so that students can collaborate to solve problems together — which is more like real life. Questions asked by other students are eye-opening, and you learn a lot more than just listening to a recorded class. Live sessions allow us to integrate all these interactions and support to create a better learning experience.
