What is Crowd Funding?

Crowd funding is a developing way to raise money all over the world. For new products, it’s a great way to raise the necessary amount of cash thru pre-orders to tackle some of the more costly aspects of making a product that a small company could not afford on their own. For example Pebble, Lockitron, and Coin all held crowd-funding campaigns that were very successful in bringing their products to market.

Why did we decide to use our own platform instead of a crowd funding website?

Existing crowd funding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo take a cut of the total funds raised. This would either increase the price we had to sell the product for, or decrease the quality of the product. To avoid this, as it hurts the product, we are using our own platform. Numerous start up companies have employed this same approach, and have had great success with it.

What is a Project Wedge?

Project Wedge is a simple plug-in-and-play battery operated projector that is optimally designed for tablets while also being compatible with all other devices that have HDMI out capabilities. Project Wedge makes sharing the things you love, with those you love, simpler and easier.

Yes. There are adapters that plug into your device that enable your device to be connected to an HDMI cables. Different devices may require different adapters. Prices may vary. Adapters are not sold by Project Wedge.

How bright is the projection?

We aim to have the wedge outputting somewhere between 80 — 100 lumens. Plenty bright to project almost anywhere in your home.

What is the quality of the projection?

At this point we are anticipating resolution from anywhere in the range of 600 X 800 — 720p. Our unique proprietary projection technology enables us to create a wide range of resolutions. Which resolution will be optimal for our production run is yet to be fully determined, but we do have the minimum expected resolution (600 x 800) established.

How long does the battery last?

Project Wedge has a four-hour battery.

Can I get a Project Wedge in a different color?

Aside from the traditional black and white model of Project Wedge we will be offering Project Wedge in several different colors. We will collect everyone’s color preference after the campaign asking for their choice. We may even be showing off different colors we will be offering during the campaign. Stay tuned!

When will I receive my Project Wedge?

We hope to ship 6— 9 months from our final fund date. We also plan to give priority shipping to those who order Project Wedge first. If you order today you’ll get your Project Wedge sooner! You are guaranteed to get your Project Wedge before it shows up in retail or becomes available to others who did not preorder.

Will I be updated on the process of my order?

By nature of our crowd funding campaign, that makes this is a team effort. Being part of a startup is fun and exciting and we would like to share the journey with you. We will host Google Hangouts and conduct meet-and-greets in the Pacific Northwest. You can also subscribe to our Twitter and Medium pages, and keep up to date on the latest Project Wedge developments. We are making daily updates a priority so you can follow us every step of the journey if you are so inclined.

Will there be other renditions of Project Wedge in the future?

Hopefully! We hope that everyone will love Project Wedge as much as we do, and if so we aim to make different iterations of Project Wedge to accommodate other devices, situations, etc.
