Project Wyvern — Next Steps

We view our responsibility as project developers to be threefold:

• To act in the best long-term interests of Wyvern protocol stakeholders (if you hold Wyvern, that’s you) as we understand them.
• To develop a product which provides unique, real value for both the immediate community and the ecosystem at large.
• To ensure that the stakeholders — not the developers — make the critical strategic decisions which will determine the future of the project, and that they are provided with the information necessary to make informed decisions.

To that end, the Project Wyvern development team has put together a roadmap the pursuit of which we believe would be in the best interest of stakeholders — but it comes with some risk, so we’re putting the decision of whether or not to pursue it in your hands.

Roadmap, quick version (more details about the token, exchange, and DAO will be published separately after we have a chance to solicit questions):

• Turn Wyvern into an Ethereum ERC20 token, terminating the current Wyvern blockchain and converting present WYV balances into token balances on the Ethereum blockchain. Learn more about the proposed token at https://token.projectwyvern.com/.
• Focus development and branding efforts on the Wyvern Exchange: a trustless decentralized digital item and smart contract marketplace, operating on the Ethereum blockchain and IPFS.
• Cap Wyvern supply when the existing Wyvern blockchain is terminated and grant a small additional percentage to the Wyvern DAO, a distributed delegatable shareholder association operating as an Ethereum smart contract, charged with furthering development of the Wyvern Exchange.

We’ve done enough preliminary development to ensure that this model is feasible, and we believe it is the best path going forward. Porting Wyvern to the ERC20 ecosystem will maximize ease of interoperability, the Ethereum blockchain provides the best currently live solution for smart contract deployment, and placing control and governance in the hands of a tokenholder-controlled DAO will ensure the long-term resiliency of the project.
