Action precedes Passion
Welcome to Prompt N Publish, a Medium publication for aspiring authors ready to write and, more importantly, publish.
Over the years, I’ve developed a theory that action precedes passion. It’s the opposite of what society has taught most of us — to follow our passions, and success will follow.
The problem is that passion rarely shows up without action first.
I love researching word origins. The Latin root of “passion,” pati, means suffering and enduring. Now, the movie title “The Passion of Christ” makes sense — passion connected to Jesus’ crucifixion and pain.
People have difficulty finding passion because they expect intense joy. But action requires effort, which causes pain, which creates passion. Passion is a byproduct of action, not a precursor.
Why seek passion if its root is pain? Because passion is also a precursor to joy. Action leads to passion, which leads to joy.
That’s why I created Prompt N Publish, a place for aspiring authors to take action and find passion and joy in writing.
