Promptered is an experiment. It’s an idea. A set of questions. A discussion. A spirited debate. Maybe an argument. It can be lots of things — whatever we choose to make of it.
Promptered is all about about the role of speechwriting in politics and government. The words. The tone. The delivery. The timing. The optics. The history and context. The coverage and commentary. The people behind the scenes and those in front of the podium (or with a lav mic and no podium at all).
Promptered will provide ongoing original insights and commentary from current and former presidential, political and other speechwriters. We’ll pull together insights and commentary, Q&A with speechwriting experts and enthusiast. We’ll also curate media coverage of speeches, speech transcripts and videos of speeches when it makes sense.
There won’t a regular schedule, a promise to publish every day or even every week. Promptered will come to life when it makes sense, when people have time to formulate their thoughts, when speeches happen that we want to discuss. We’ll do the best we can, as much as we can, and figure out what works and doesn’t work as we go.
