A few months ago I saw a list of the happiest countries in the world. Countries that you would never imagine were among the best. The countries that were in the first places had something in common: People were grateful and their expectations were not extremely ambitious.
The answer was not a better climate, a growing economy, cheap real estate, natural beauty, security. The answer was that they were grateful and their expectations were not extremely ambitious.
When you are a grateful person, your mind focuses on what you have and not what you lack. That simple fact makes you a much happier person.
2 It benefits the person who receives it
How many times have you ever felt good when someone else thanks you for something? How many times have you felt your work valued, your important ideas, your accepted person when someone thanks you?
That’s the point, a grateful person is not only happier but also spreads blessing around him/her in every moment that he/she thanks others.

The consequence of benefiting other people strengthens relationships. It makes you an interesting person. It makes people want to be with you.

When we are grateful we develop a tendency to see the positive side of things. Consequently, you manage to maintain a positive attitude. We see the sun through the gray clouds. We see the glass half full.

Being grateful shows you a hidden world that most people don’t see. There is a chain of “coincidences” that allow you to live, see, interact with the world. Being grateful makes you aware of that chain.
