Short Form Essay

October in 1975. I was 19 years old and was bitten by the travel bug. My friend Pat and I had visited Hawaii the year before and decided to go to the Caribbean to get tans and party. So we took a cruise and had a blast. We didn’t sleep the entire week while on the cruise. We would doze off on the beach during the day while sunning ourselves.

One of the first things you do when stepping on the ship is choose a seating arrangement for daily meals. The highlight of the dinner was the dessert. The first night baked Alaska was served and it was an event. It was a showstopper. The waiters came into the dining room all at once carrying pedestals of the Alaska which were lit at the tables and then served. It was amazing and we felt like royalty.

Thank you to Ravyne Hawke for the mid week micro madness prompt and for the memories.
