A New Year, A New Me?
But what does that really mean?
What began as a temporary hiatus from Medium turned into a long vacation — a year and a half, at least. I’ve posted a few updates since then and dropped a random poem or two, but once you are out of synch with something, it becomes more and more difficult to get back into the swing of things. And truthfully, I haven’t wanted to make promises of returning regularly that my health wouldn’t allow. Not that my health has miraculously improved over the past eighteen months or so. In fact, in some ways it has gotten worse. But I am hopeful. Hopeful that I am ready to begin writing semi-regularly again.
Last year, I became involved with two amazing creatives off of the world of Medium. One is Adam Gary, a UK-based poet and editor who has a Youtube channel where every Sunday we get together and discuss all things poetry, life, and the random moments of nostalgia. And on the first Sunday of each month, we do poetry write-alongs that are both fun and sometimes hilarious. He has encouraged me to begin writing poetry again, although I am still having slow starts and misfires at it. The other creative is Matt Wall, an LA-based poet and artist. He also has a Youtube channel where he gives writing advice, encourages poets, and sometimes paints. Once a week, we get together on Zoom calls and…
