In fear and despair
She called out to the goddess Artemis
To protect her, to save her
from the rage of the drunkard

Artemis saw the danger to
Amethyst
Her beloved acolyte and servant

And turned her
Into a statue of great beauty
White stone
Glowing, radiant

Bacchus wept at his folly
His tears spilled down the statue
And it became purple
