Jack and Brian were two friends who bought a new house as they moved to this new city. It was a big old house with spooky tree leaves and an old exterior with torn-off paint.

Jack and Brian entered the house premise, the leaves cracked under their feet. Jack pushed and tried to open the gate but he couldn’t open it.

Brian laughed and said, “You are growing weak day by day, you can’t even open a door!”

Brian tried to open it but it seemed to be bolted. He pushed with all of his strength and the door opened.

“Not too bad huh?” Jack asked Brian.

“Not bad now that I own it! You have to fix that door.” Brian said with a smirk on his face.

“We !!! Own it!!! Together.” Jack exclaimed.

“Yes, whatever! You aren’t gonna be here most of the time, so! It is mostly mine” Brian replied.

Jack heard a door closing near them and he quickly turned back.

“What happened?” Brian asked.

Jack didn’t see anything so he said “Nothing. I thought I heard someone.”

It was the month of October and this new house had a lot to reveal.

The sky dusked and the shadows got long and hard. There was a certain silence in the surrounding.

“The neighbourhood seems quiet. I sense someone is watching us.” Jack said to Brian who was having a glass of whiskey.

“There is no one watching us. The only sound you hear in this house is this ancient clock going ding…ding..every hour!” Brian replied.

“That is an artefact… It is unusually quiet here as the dawn is approaching,” Jack replied.

“Quiet or boring? You are missing some action in your such long existence. Come let’s go to the club I’ll help you!” said Brian.

“Oh cut it short. I am nowhere to be seen in your madness and vague lifestyle,” Jack said with an irritated tone.

“Ok alright, we shall stay home for the hunt today,” Brian chuckled.

The night grew darker and the clock suddenly chimed at 11:10 pm.

Jack quickly got up and looked at Brian. “Isn’t it odd that it is chiming at 11:10 pm…not at 11??”

“It’s old it must be broken” Brian replied.

Suddenly all of the doors shut down together, the lights started to go on and off and all the windows started to open and close simultaneously.

“Ohh looks like the house is awake now!” Brian smirked while enjoying his drink.

Suddenly a woman in clothes smeared in blood appeared behind Brian.

“Look behind you!” Jack pointed out in the direction behind Brian.

Brian turned back slowly and he seemed unbothered looking at the woman “Who are you? This is my house!” Brian said to her.

The woman screamed and swiftly pushed her hand towards his chest and Brian flew halfway across the hall and fell on a wooden table breaking it in half.

Brian stood up, dusted off his shirt, and said “That is not what I asked!”

He whooshed quickly to her but she disappeared the moment he tried to reach her neck.

Jack was spooked and said, “ We need to get out of here. Now!”

“Relax don’t forget we are vampires. What’s the worse thing that can happen? Do we die? Don’t forget, we can’t die,” Brian replied.

A deep shaky voice echoed in the room “ Go away from here! Men are not allowed here.”

“Men? We are not just men. We’re ‘dead men’. Vampires.”

“This ghost is stupid Af,” Brian added.

“I have a really bad feeling for this. Please let’s go from here!” Jack was frightened.

“It’s all because this clock chimed at the wrong time. Let’s throw it away.”

Brian reached to the wall clock and a deafening scream filled the room. He passed out.

Jack quickly ran to him and tried to wake him up.

He had Brian in his arms and screamed, “I am going to end you!”

Just then the building shrieked and the walls started cracking. The house was shaking and a big crack appeared on the roof above them.

A sharp-pointed rock fell from above straight through Jack’s back to Brian’s stomach.

Jack grunted in pain and the woman in blood-ridden clothes appeared in front of him and laughed maniacally.

Jack tried to move but he was frozen. The pain took over his head but he fought it and slowly pulled his hand closer to himself.

He gathered all of his strength and broke the rock screaming with pain.

He took out the sharp rock from Brian’s stomach picked him up in his arms and came out of the house.

The house healed itself quickly as they left.

Brian was still passed out as Jack looked at the house.

An old man hidden in the bushes came forward to them said, “You might be the first man to come out alive from that house”

Jack asked him, “Who are you?”

“This house belonged to a woman who fell in love three times but didn’t get any luck succeeding in her love story.” The old man seemed lost in his thoughts.

“What happened to her?” Jack asked.

“ She gave herself a chance at love every time but she always got cheated.” The man added, “ She found her last lover in bed with two other women and she killed him, smashing his head with a wall clock. Then she slit her wrist with a sharp knife and died too.”

Jack was stunned to hear it.

“It is told that she hated men ever since and her spirit stays in this house never allowing any man to live here.”

Jack knew he didn’t want to disturb an uncertain soul and ran far far away with his friend.

They never came back and the house remained deserted forever. Nobody ever went back there.
