“Wake up!”
I groaned as my baby sister shook me awake. A quick bleary-eyed glance at the clock told me it was just past three AM.
“What?”
“I heard a noise.”
Here we go again.
I shuffled over in bed to make room for her like I always did when she was spooked.
“No, no listen,” she said. “Shh.”
I did, and I heard it. Some kind of crackling noise, like something was malfunctioning. It was coming from under the bed.
I leaned over.
A red light blinked back at me.
I pulled her into bed.
Someone was listening.
