Bit By Bit

It takes over

Bit by bit, it consumes
Tightening its grip
Piercing through the skin
Taking away my voice
The tears refuse to run
Tear ducts welled shut
The crepuscular room remains still
Eyes become darts
With a lepidolite sheen
It whispers in the tenebrous air
Sibilant hiss
Pervading the surrounding space
To domineer over
A proclivity for sensing weakness
It is there it finds its strength
Borne of this affliction
My soul…
