Friday’s Poetry Prompt
Collateral Damage

I thought her
as chaste as unsunned snow,
one I could trust with my heart
so I put all my eggs in a basket,
but I never saw her dark side,
how she likes to toss aside men
in a serial monogamist pattern.
But this wasn’t why we ended.
It was either your friend or me,
and you weren’t strong enough
to stand up to Lady Macbeth.
I became a sunken battleship,
but I think you ended up worse.
You lost yourself and me listening
to a friend who was jealous of us.
Thanks to Ravyne Hawke for the poetry prompt
