Digital Bullfights
Poetry
Toreador,
where are you now?
I pasa doble
my intent and enter the
tangled arena of
writing once more
Carmen rolls cigars,
and the toreadors are measuring
swords again.
The oranges are bitter,
this year,
are they not? Maybe
we should make
lemonade
instead.
And swish capes
to obfuscate
the complications
of our deadly dance
with Capitalism
Author’s Note: Just to be clear, I’m a vegetarian who 100% thinks that real-life bullfights should be banned — they are barbaric and cruel.
This poem is using bullfights as a metaphor — nothing more, nothing less.
Inspired by this quote:
‘This wasn’t my only risky bullfight with the algorithm.’ — Carlo Zeno
