Either a Writer or a Wannabe

The conversation I often have in my head

Either write or don’t write
There’s no in-between
Either beat around the bush a million times
Or say what you really mean
Either sit your butt in that chair
Or take a walk around the block
Either take the time to work on your craft
Or submit a story that sucks
Either call yourself a writer
And truly own it by doing the work
Or continue to strut as a wannabe
And end up with your face in the dirt
Either make the commitment to yourself
Or continue to miss the call
To be the writer you’re meant to be
Or continue to live a life that’s small.
