Promptly Written

--

Greetings PW writers and readers. Just some notes and reminders as we round up the end of 2021 and look forward to 2022 here at Promptly Written. The pub is open! So come on in, grab a drink and a snack, and settle in for some news.

If you have any issues or questions about anything dealing with Promptly Written, feel free to contact me — Email: ravynehawke@gmail.com

REMINDERS

  • IMPORTANT — SIGN UP FOR THE NEWSLETTER — Beginning in January, all interactions between the editorial team and writers will come via a newsletter. I will no longer be doing a mass tagging of all writers at the end of newsletters (apparently Medium frowns upon this). However, there will be at least two more mass taggings before the end of the year — I know this can be annoying, but I do need to reach out to all of you until all or at least the majority of you have signed up for the newsletter, so please forgive this inconvenience. If you do not sign up for the newsletter, don’t complain if you are left out of the loop.
  • SUBSCRIBE TO MY POSTS — this will ensure that you receive every prompt, newsletter, and anything else I publish on PW in an email. You will notice a ‘letter button’ beside the ‘follow button’ by my name on all my posts. To subscribe to me by email, simply click that ‘letter button’.
  • SUBSCRIBE TO CHRISTINE GRAVES — She will be helping out with prompts. You won’t want to miss that!
  • FOLLOW THE EDITORS — this will make it easier for you to stay in contact with the editorial team at PW.

PUB NEWS

  • Promptly Written has a FB Group. It is private and hidden. And, you can even make anonymous posts. The only way to get into the group is by direct invitation. If you are interested in joining, please email me your FB link. DO NOT leave it in the comments section; this is to prevent you from receiving unwanted friend requests. My email address is at the top of this post.
  • CONNECT TO OR CREATE A TWITTER ACCOUNT (and then connect it to your Medium account) No this is not a requirement. However, I distribute your work on Twitter and if you have not connected your Twitter to your Medium account, you probably don’t know who may be interacting with your work there. Also, beginning in January, PW will be engaging with our writers via Twitter chats.
  • If you are interested in an Email Group, please send me your email address via my email link above. DO NOT put your email address into the comments; this is to protect you from spam and trolls.
  • OUR HOME PAGE HAS A NEW LOOK! Please check it out and let me know how you like or dislike the new style by emailing me or leaving a comment here.
  • SUBMISSION GUIDELINES HAVE BEEN UPDATED! If you have not done so yet, please go and read them and then leave a comment letting me know that you have read and understood these guidelines.

CALL TO ACTION

We still need help getting writers to the 1k goal to qualify for Winston’s Coffee Times Challenge. The deadline for them to qualify for Round 1 is December 31st.

Charlie Cole only needs 50 more claps!

Mayuresh Belsare needs 225 claps!

Niall Leah needs 840 claps! She just entered today!

PARTICIPANTS, YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR ESSAYS OVER AT COFFEE TIME. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE AT 1K CLAPS TO REGISTER! YOU DO NEED TO REGISTER TO QUALIFY!

YOUR CHANCE TO PARTICIPATE!

Beginning Sunday, January 2nd, it will be Writers’ Prompt Sunday! If you would like to submit a prompt for your fellow writers, now’s your chance. EMAIL me your prompt no later than on Fridays at 9:00 pm US Central Time (that will be on December 31st this time), and your prompt will be scheduled to come out on Sundays. If I do not receive any prompts, you are stuck with something from me. I’ve warned ya!

That’s all for now. Thank you all!
