I do not want to rule the world — just this small pond where my words may ripple out to only the gods know where. If they stop at the next lily pad where a small green frog sits contemplating his vast existence — because he obviously only knows this space — then he may croak out my words, spreading them from lily pad to lily pad, pond to pond — resonating to oceans beyond.

If my words gather on yonder shores, heard by small children seeking tadpoles, then — with their wild imaginations — they may carry my words home in buckets filled with pond water and dancing tadpoles, share them with their friends, and epic adventures will begin. Their adventurous tales will echo from childhood to adulthood and live on in their children’s children — maybe even reaching the stars.

If my words gather on fishing poles — wiggling like earthworms — and a mighty catfish is caught, then my words will become tall tales told over a pint in a pub somewhere in the village. My words will mingle with drunken, vulgar limericks and catch the ears of a bard sitting quietly nearby. Later, when his poem spreads through the countryside, he will swear his muse — some sultry pond nymph — fed the words to him through ale…
