Hello PW writers and readers. This is an important update.

Medium’s new format has now hit our publications too. What does this mean for you as writers and readers here at PW? A few things:

  1. We no longer have Feature sections. You will still be able to access the old featured sections via our old newsletters for now, but I have no way to update them. My apologies to all PW writers who have feature sections.
  2. For anyone who used to have a Feature page, please go through your work and create a LIST of all your stories. Whenever you submit a story to PW in the future, please include a link to your LIST at the end of your stories. Anyone who wishes to do this whether or not you had a Feature page may do so.
  3. Tagging your stories correctly is now super important. Remember, the FOUR core tags for PW are: Poetry for all types of poems, including micropoems and prose poetry; Fiction for all fiction stories including microfiction; Essay for all personal essays, creative non-fiction, short forms, and rants; and Articles for all articles, including reviews, advice, or to inform.
  4. Get yourselves familiar with the Navigation Bar. This is where all information will now be housed. Our navigation bar consists of Home, About, Write For PW (This is the Submission Guidelines), Prompts (this is where you will find all the available writing prompts), Suma Narayan (this is Suma’s feature page for winning the Feb Challenge), PW News (you can find all the newsletters and Charlie’s Curations here), Poetry, Fiction, Essays, Articles (to see Essays and Articles, click on the >).
  5. Pinned at the top of PW will always be the Monthly Theme and the latest Newsletter.

Again, my apologies for all who are losing their Featured pages. This was not my choice. This is all Medium’s choice without consulting publication owners or giving us a choice to opt-out. All new work published will go to the top of our publication now (below the two pinned pieces I mentioned above). We will work twice as hard now to ensure that your work gets noticed.

Thank you all for your time.
