I long to awaken
to the aroma of your skin
still glistening from sweat
after a night of passion
To see sapphire flames
rise and ignite
in your eyes again
To taste the sweet essence
of your body, engulfed
by lustful intentions
To watch ebony strands
cascade over snowcapped peaks
and settle into ivory valleys below

Yet, as eyes open and reality sets in
the image of you drifts until I sleep again

This is a poetic response to Hope Carter’s prompt — What would you love to wake up to every morning? Explain why. (Examples: bacon frying, ocean waves, a person, etc.)
