Inspired
I write because you read
Inspiration comes in many forms.
We write because we’re writers and we have something we want to say to the world. We put our little word babies out there and we hope that they’re read. We hope they’re received well. We hope our comment sections don’t fill with hate and critiques we didn’t ask for.
When I saw the monthly theme for April asking for pieces about a writer that inspires us… the first name that came to mind was David Perlmutter.
As it should for many of us.
We’ve probably all witnessed the many pieces published about him. Some were hateful and awful and just plain wrong, but most of them… grateful, amazed, and yes... inspired.
David is a prolific reader. And highlighter. He leaves his mark on your work to show he’s been there and he liked what he saw. Some people find it annoying I guess, but for me, it’s a HUGE source of encouragement and inspiration and if you see it as anything else, well… shame on you for being so ungrateful.
I “met” David back in my (dark) Vocal days. Vocal doesn’t allow for comments or highlighting or clapping but I knew he read my work and he’d compliment my pieces on Facebook.
When I made the switch fully over to Medium, David was here, highlighting my pieces.
