Lost Things
A haiku series

The things we have lost
Are those we took for granted
Until they left us.
Those times when we said,
“See you”, oh, so casually,
Who do we ‘see’ now?
A friend’s casual touch,
The high-five of a colleague
I ache for those now.
We shopped for lipsticks
We compared colours and shades
Who sees lips any more?
The joy of a smile
That pure expression of mirth
Invisible now.
We wear masks to mask
Shut in our own panic rooms…
These things, we have lost.
