Welcome to Promptly Written for a new monthly theme. This month, the theme will be:

Prepping your garden

Whether you are in the Northern or Southern Hemispheres, it is that lovely time of the year for prepping your gardens. My father loved gardening and it was always early April that he would be out tilling the ground, putting out the manure, and deciding where he would plant what that season. He was big on rotating his crops. If you are down south, this may be the time that you are clearing your fields and getting the ground ready for winter.

And while we can take the monthly theme literally, we can also take it figuratively. While deciding on the theme for this month, I read an essay by jules - Miz Mindful about the Garden of Mindful Expressions — planting seeds and growing mindsets. She makes a lot of sense when she questions how we ‘grow our gardens’ — are we attentive and committed? And then she gives this gem

It takes commitment and daily actions to tend your garden to reap the rewards. The same is true of our thoughts and our spirits. Daily actions become habits and routines. I used to think habits and routines were barriers to freedom, but the more I am mindfully aware of my present…
