Mother Earth —
Nurture us,
Your children
For we are seeds that have been planted in your soil
Reaching for the sky, the stars

Protect us
From each other
For we do ourselves harm all too often
And stain the pavement with the blood of our brothers and sisters

Raise us
To lofty heights
But do not raise the temperatures, nor the seas
For we may not stay afloat

Cherish us
When life gets hard
For sometimes we need a hand, a lift
Some idle hours amongst your steadfast mountains, your sun-washed shorelines

Teach us
By example
To hold close every child, every broken soul
As you embrace the rough-and-tumble of this earth

Dazzle us
With your beauty
For every human being is a paragon of grace
Every tree, blossom, blade of grass a thing of joy
Every moment a treasure

Speaking of which…

Father Time —
Watch your step
