No More Betrayal
Poetic response to The Daily Special — Oct 14th
Do you know how hard it is to try
only to have your world crumble apart?
To be of open heart and forgiving
To let you back in, time and time again
To forget all the times you left me behind
and the abuse you kept unleashing
Each small betrayal stacks upon itself
ant hills becoming mountaintops
I climb and climb and climb
hoping to reach the top, to be the one
To not get kicked down and toppled again
To finally give to you all my trust
But no matter how our story began
my dearest childhood friend
I’m no longer the sap I was back then
no longer ruins dismantled at your feet
I hold myself higher than you now
My heart, you can no longer reach
