Oh Winter Wind

A Rondeau poem for the Daily Special

Oh winter wind so cold and grey
Chill the world, both night and day
Piercing through the naked trees
Bringing bouts of naught degrees
I mourn the month of your display

Lifeless grain lies where you stay
The last Autumnal season’s prey
Yet a stem you leave to tease
Oh winter wind

It seems all life is swept away
Still some beauty you do portray
Read the signs within the breeze
Life still lives beneath the freeze
For yours is but a brief ballet
Oh winter wind
