Piracy On The High Street

The racketeer

I was invited to partake in a rather unseemly venture
By a repugnant little man with an odious demeanour
He fervently implored me to join in his shrewd endeavour
But I could not fathom this miscreant’s motives whatsoever

He besieged me on the High Street as if he was a buccaneer
As if my ship’s hold was full of topaz as a prize to commandeer
So I brought myself to my full height and turned my manner to austere
And saw off the wretched man, that snivelling racketeer

In response to Ravyne Hawke’s Daily Special — Nov 10th

With thanks for the inspiration
