He stood mutely before the court
Head bowed
Not a victim of circumstance
He was the maker of his own destiny

This is the path he had chosen
This day of pain and death
He would go silently
A lamb to the slaughter

Every step of this torturous trail
He willingly tread
All the way
From here to Golgotha

He would go to the cross
Rip back the veil
Tear down the dividing wall
And reveal God’s plan

On this day he would uncover
The greatest cover up of all
For it was our sins which
Obscured the face of God

Today
Our sins
Would be
Washed away

This piece was written some time ago from several prompts. They were a victim of circumstance; the great cover-up, and like a lamb to the slaughter. I offer this here now in honor of the Easter season.
