Welcome to Week 49 of 2024 Writing Prompts at Promptly Written! Stores have been pushing singing Santas and twinkle lights for the last six weeks (or longer), but it’s really starting to feel like Christmastime.

And you know what that means! Terribly cheesy Christmas-themed writing prompts that are the same as last year’s? NO!

Prompts like “you receive an unexpected gift” or “shopping for someone with everything” or “write a story about being trapped in the mall on Christmas Eve” are nice. They’re fine. But they’re not interesting.

We can do better than that! Here are some holiday-adjacent prompts with twists to keep things interesting.
