Thanksgiving

Gratitude

There are words written on my heart
pronounced in my speech all day
I survived, but more, I am so alive

Each new day has joy in ordinary things,
the birds feeding in my garden
in trees I planted, flowers I sowed

I see, hear laughter, birdsong, and moving leaves
in the breeze, the storms, and touch the soil
which feeds my soul, heals my inner self

Gratitude is mine to give to others
opening my heart to theirs, giving what I have
seeding thanksgiving in their lives
