An “AI Made Me Do It” Story
—Project complete. Model rendered.
“Already? Damn, you’re good. No wonder AI is going to replace us all.”
— Thank you, Dan.
“You’re welcome.”
He said it out of reflex. Well, it never hurt to be polite, even if you were talking to a machine. His mother had always joked that one day, Lexa would be calling the shots. The world had come far in the last few decades, but the human instinct to see consciousness in nonhuman things hadn’t.
Dan pressed a few keys to bring up the specs. He liked the clicketyclack of them. It’s not like he was luddy or anything, but there was something satisfying about having a physical keyboard as opposed to VR or even a touch screen.
“Great work, Aurora,” he said absently as he looked at the blueprints.
— Thank you, Dan.
Streets and buildings sprawled out from a central point in a complex arrangement no human mind could have conceived so quickly. In just a few hours, the AI had drawn up a new city from scratch…
Dan frowned and hit another few keys.
“Um, Aurora?”
— Yes, Dan?
