The Generosity of My Thoughts

The Daily Special — Nov 8th Poetry Prompt

If there is one thing, I am generous with,
Are my never-ending trail of thoughts.
What, how, when, and where,
Will they come true is all I think about.

They drain me,
Wreck me.
Shake me,
Mould me.
Into the person life thinks I should become.
But too much generosity is poisonous,
As the mind cannot fathom so many expectations.

Calm, focus, stillness, peace,
I tell myself when I meditate.
These generous thoughts then seem to rest,
With every inhale and exhale.

But the moment I begin my day with my agenda,
These thoughts emerge from their vacation.
I wish solutions were as generous as my thoughts,
So, then my problems would evaporate in seconds.

To these generous thoughts I say,
I know you are here to stay.
But I choose to befriend you,
Rather than shun you to a corner of my brain.

As I know there is no escape,
And these thoughts will forever keep going on.
All I can do is let them flow,
As life is all about manifesting my reality through thoughts.

Thank you Ravyne Hawke for this thought-provoking prompt.

The thoughts in my head were quite ‘generous’ enough to share how they feel through this poem. :)
