Duke had realised that the evil hand that had touched the Major had also touched his brother, Marcus. It was undeniable. Duke had a theory as to how this could be possible given both were in a different time and in two different places in the Universe, the first on Old Earth and this latest abhorrence on New Earth. He would test his theory.

The alarums were still sounding and the red lights were flashing. Something big was up and it was not the Duke. He moved through the corridors without seeing anyone and as he reached the exit from the facility he noticed that the nuclear missile silos were opening. Someone had pressed the red button and the nukes were about to fly. He had little time to make it to the portal but he quickly bet himself that he would make it. And he made the noise. And make it he did, with seconds to spare.

Duke reached the portal and as he began to set the time coordinates he noticed they had already been set. This confirmed his suspicions. Duke was going back to warn his brother, Marcus that a deliberate trap had been set. But someone or something had already returned to his brother's time. And Duke knew exactly who that had been. His own son. It was now so obvious. It was he who had started to organize the Horde. It was he who had targeted the human weak spots. For he knew what the ‘human’ weak spots were — the small…
