Thirst. So thirsty. The thirst was unbearable. He tried to move but nothing would work. Then he began to remember. He had just been with his brother, Marcus back on Old Earth. But where was he now?

His eyes opened and he was in a cylinder. Heavy straps held him tight. He could breathe fine and all his senses were becoming very tuned indeed. He felt strong, like a tightly coiled wire. Ready to uncoil into action. He felt so ready. But ready for what? And more importantly, where on Earth was he?

Suddenly, a door opened and a light crashed into his viewing space. This was a laboratory. But military. Armed personnel was in the doorway. No arc swords here but semi-automatic assault rifles. He was a long way from home. And then the memories began to flood back, of her and of her….. treachery. Of being turned into one of them, the Horde. Not just one of them but their Leader. He shivered. And hatred for the Horde enveloped him.

A woman's voice filled the air and he listened.

The creature is waking. Slowly remove the inhibitors and just to be on the safe side keep the adrenalin receptors on low.

He recognized that voice. It was her. But how was she here and come to mention it, how was he here back in the laboratory of Project Epsilon?
