Hint — Are we defined by where we come from, or can we rewrite our stories?

My apologies for being a little late in delivering this to you but honestly I’ve had it in my head for a few weeks, I just wanted to phrase it in the right way. You see, Christmas stories at Christmas are a dime-a-dozen. As are New Year’s resolution pieces, and advice articles on how to manage your family gatherings.

But the reality is, we are all consumed on some level by the holiday season.

Whether we celebrate — or indeed what we celebrate — doesn’t seem to matter. We are surrounded everywhere we go with stories of religion, the origins of believe systems, family and how that should look, and who we expected be at this time of year.

It can be a lot.

It got me thinking about origin stories. Marvel, DC and all the film studios have made a lot of money in recent years telling the origin stories of our favourite characters.

We all love a good hero arc, a redemption story and hearing about the ‘time before’ they were famous.

These stories offer us a point of connection — a way of seeing the potential and possibility in ourselves to become something unique and amazing. To become ‘someone’.
