Vermilion Skies

Poetry

Photo by Kym MacKinnon on Unsplash

Christopher is my given name
Though most refer to me as harebrained
They think me daft, a mariner defamed
They laugh behind my back and in my face

The Queen believed in my tall tale
Or rather expected great riches on a large scale
Three ships she presented and I set sail
Chasing my dreams, my lifelong fairytale
