Charity is love and caring
Charity is love in sharing
Charity is love in action
Giving of oneself to one who has less

Charity is transcending basal instincts
To hold, withhold, hoard, and keep
To have a thought for another
And ignore the pesky voice crying me, myself and I

Charity is laying a foundation of good deeds
That will outlive rather than benefit you
Charity is the pouring forth of blessings before
Smoothing the way for generations yet unborn
A storehouse of goodwill
For your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren
And continuing generations

Charity is an enduring legacy
In those who would but live selflessly
Earning them rewards eternal
More durable than money or wealth or fame or power

Charity is sharing myself and giving back
Challenging you to give back and not break the chain
