When The Forest Was Eerily Silent
Prompted Poetry
The Forest was eerily silent…
Every creature adrift in their slumber
She raised leafy arms in defiance
No music, no rustling, no thunder
— The forest was eerily silent
Trees nearby her beheld her with wonder
The exquisite, green, moss-covered giant
All aware that her hours were numbered
— And the forest was eerily silent
They showed early, on trucks full of lumber
They — humans, egotistical tyrants
To forage, to rape, and to plunder
— And the forest was eerily silent
All the trees glimpsed her cut, torn asunder
Remembering her — noble and vibrant
She gave out a loud shriek then shuddered
Then…
— The forest was eerily silent
