Ideally, it is would be a phone call.
Ring, ring, ring
The sound of the clock is drowned out by the…
Ring, ring, ring

Picking up the phone so cold.
It is hardly ever used.
The voice on the other end giggles.
Yes, it is very amusing.

Slamming down the device so loudly
Bang, bang, bang
I refuse to listen to this laughter;
To all the words so profane.

In my mind, yes.
Ring, bang, ring
No silence will ever reach my soul,
The voices are loud and leave me maimed.

Silence

It is in the wisdom that many say it happened;
That day, I waited by the phone.
Waited for a string of hope,
For something tangible to unfold.

Alas, there is nothing but…
Silence.
