This article will outline the workflow for migrating NEO and GAS from NEO Legacy to Neo N3 using Neon Wallet and a Ledger Nano hardware wallet.

  1. Migration for Ledger users is enabled in Neon Wallet v2.9.0+. If you are an existing wallet user, verify that you received the update by referencing the version indicator at the bottom of the login screen. For Ledger users without the wallet, download it from: https://github.com/CityOfZion/neon-wallet/releases/latest
  2. Install the new Neo N3 Ledger application from the Ledger Live application. If you do not have Ledger Live installed, you can download it here: https://www.ledger.com/ledger-live/download
Navigate to the “manager” tab in the left-hand navbar.
You will be prompted to unlock you ledger device to unlock the Ledger App Catalog
Once unlocked, verify that your ledger firmware is at least 2.0.0 for Nano S or 1.3 for Nano X. This is required for the Neo N3 application to function. If your ledger app is “freezing”, this is most likely the reason.
Use the search bar to identify the Neo(NEO) and Neo N3 applications. You will need BOTH installed to migrate.

3. Return to Neon Wallet and authenticate on Neo Legacy using your Neo Legacy Ledger application:

4. Navigate to the new “migration” tab and begin your transition to Neo N3:

Navigating to the ‘Migration’ tab will prompt you to open your new Neo N3 application on your Ledger device. This will allow us to “lock-on” to your new N3 address to ensure that you migrate directly into your Ledger supported Neo N3 account. Users can verify this address by logging into Neon wallet on the N3 side of the application at any time. Optionally, users can migration to an additional address using the “Fetch additional addresses” feature. Click “Continue” to move to the next step.
On step 2, you will have the ability to select your assets to migrate. Our workflow will auto-populate your ledger address to prevent any opportunity for error associated with copying your N3 Address. The experience is similar to a normal “Send” transaction so select how many assets you wish to migrate and click “Continue”. You can migrate multiple times so don’t feel obligated to migrate all your assets at once.

NOTE: If you are migrating less than 10 NEO, we recommend migrating it before the GAS to ensure you can cover the GAS transaction fee.

You will be prompted to log into your Neo Legacy Ledger app to sign the transaction. Once signed, the prompt will close and users will be taken to the overview page.
This overview page will provide a summary of all pending and completed migration transactions for your account. Users can click on an element for more information about the migration transaction. It may take a few minutes for your migration activity to appear on the overview page since the transaction must first be relayed to the consensus nodes and published to the chain.
