Today we are launching soundproof, a podcast for fans of the Proof blog who think it needs more sound! (Or less reading.) Each episode will feature a special guest who will help us learn about a new field, and we’ll draw lessons that apply back to the finance industry. Available wherever you usually listen to podcasts: Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and here:

In our first episode, “A Tale of Two Data Scientists,” hosts Allison Bishop and Nila Das are joined by MIT Professor Tamara Broderick, a leading expert in machine learning, to talk about data science, and all the things that can go wrong when we try to draw generalized conclusions from it. Professor Broderick has a new talk on this topic entitled “Toward a taxonomy of trust for probabilistic data analysis” that is available on YouTube, based on joint work with Ryan Giordano, Andrew Gelman, Rachael Meager, Anna L. Smith, and Tian Zheng.
