Leap 3 5 Insights on Propaganda

During this semester I learned a ton about the different types of propaganda and how they are used. The meme I picked for the cover photo depicts this as it shows how Propaganda, Memes and art all are ways propaganda is used. However there is so much more to this and that includes conspiracy theories, the media, social media and even more. Throughout the class we have gone over each type of propaganda and how it is used in the world either in the past or today. The 5 insights I chose to discuss were patriotism as propaganda, the media’s ability to shape views, the way it is taught or should be taught in schools, the dangers of conspiracy theories and finally terrorism as a form of propaganda. These five topics are the ones that I found to be the most interesting and also concerning issues. When it comes to the media we see so much misinformation and agenda setting. With conspiracy theories they can be a fun theory or something that is dangerous and can cause issues. Terrorism and violence is being used in order to get people to join a cause and the way they do it is fascinatingly scary. Schools can be a form of propaganda but the way it is taught or isn’t taught is up for debate and has been a subject of concern lately with textbook wars and angry parents. Finally patriotism is one of the forms of propaganda that I was somewhat familiar with and really enjoyed diving deeper into the different forms and how it works whether in war times or not war times.
