Mental Health
The propaganda message I am trying to convey to my audience is through video explaining that mental health is a major problem to which many people cannot find a long term solution. Poor mental health affects many people to the point where they find other short term solutions that can cause a lot of bad effects on their personal health. Examples of this would be drinking, smoking pot, or cutting themselves; all in an effort to “cure” themselves. Unfortunately they become very dependent on whatever that method of “curing” themselves could be. More times than not it is never effective enough and those people will continue to self medicate. I will advocate for healthier, safer, and cleaner ideas t o help mental health; especially those who are young and cannot find a way to help themselves to overcome this massive mental obstacle.
The target audience is college aged students, with the primary age range being 18–25. There are many students in college that do not fall within this age range, and could be the audience, but for the most part, most people would fall in the age range 18–25. I began the video by creating a scenario that most of us college students have been in before and we could not do anything about. Because of this situation we felt totally helpless to do anything and just broke down. In the video, I then address how this feeling is common for many students in college, even if they don’t talk about it. The best thing to do is seek help from a loved one, medical professional, or a trusted adult that they can turn to. It can be very difficult to do since it is something that a lot of people will think is weak to reveal the internal problems they are going through. So if it is a family member, a friend, or even a loved one, it is never a problem to lean on them and let them help you. I will also point out that if someone in their life came to them, like a friend or family member, they would be willing to help that person. It would make sense then, that when they are in need that their trusted friend or family member would be willing to help them, too. Sometimes, even just talking about it can make you feel better, and make you feel like 1000 tons were just lifted off of their shoulders. I think it is important to point out that a professional or a trusted adult may be their best choice, even though most of us end up going to friends and family. They will always be there for you and sacrifice their own time to do anything to help you out of this gutter. According to research having a disconnected relationship, it has shown that the chances of depression and Anxiety to kick in to become a very problematic thing in peoples lives. To emphasize how important it is to have close friends in your life because research also proves that having your close ones heavily involved in your life can reduce these bad physical health problems like high blood pressure, cancer, heart diseases, and depression. Having good relationships with your friends has a strong correlation with happiness and good health. Surprisingly having friends heavily involved in your life brings better benefits than having your family members around. That was a very strong message. I’ve been trying to relay in the video for those who deal with mental health problems. Once someone can get the message that you should, the last thing you should do is be alone and stay with those who truly love and care about you. Things are slowly starting to get better, and everything will become brighter and happier. People are social beings, and we can never deal with anything in our lives matter what it is alone and we must take on the problem, head on with the great group of people surrounding you at all times. That’s something that has even helped me and my own personal experiences. When I was at my lowest points, I tried to deal with these problems on my own, but I found out quickly that it really ruined my life. A lot of good experiences. I had something I could not control or help so I just decided to reach out to friends and let them know what was going on and thankfully they’re always here for me at all times.
As the video continues, I make sure that there is a good basis of understanding that it is not easy to find a solution for mental health is not within one day. It will take a lot of time and effort to make sure that there will be something done for you in some shape or form. Another point I make in the video is to find ways to stay active and really what I mean is physical activity. Is shown that physical activity can be one of the greatest forms of therapy because you are releasing multiple chemicals in your body to make you feel better, as well as reducing the amount of cortisol in your system. Continue to work out, There will be some major confidence boosters, added to your life because there will be some reward at some point in your fitness journey. I mean who does not like to see some good results from working out, showing that it isn’t going to waste. Getting some exercise outside will help since getting some sunlight has been linked to boosting happiness and getting the proper nutrients we need for our brain and body. I hope my message has impacted at least one person or hopefully even more people. That way people can go into a better direction in their life with some answers to help their problems and to even be around people to keep them self standing tall, and continue to fight their internal conflicts.
