Top Five Insights on Propaganda

Throughout this course, I learned the true meaning of Propaganda. I used to have a fixed mindset when it comes to this term and with the help of this course, I was able to learn that Propaganda can be used to inform and entertain not only persuade. This course opened my eyes to the idea that Propaganda is truly everywhere. With the advancement of technology, people are able to use different softwares to produce deepfake media which affects our trust. Some of these deep fake medias seem so real that it’s hard to distinguish what is real and what is not. This creates a lack of trust and causes confusion. It’s hard to pinpoint what to believe. As a result, people turn to conspiracy theories to try to make sense of it all. There were so many different propaganda videos on the COVID-19 pandemic when it first developed which created a divide in our country. Some people believed that we should take the vaccine while others did not. This promoted propaganda for the anti-vaxxers because now they would be able to encourage others not to take it because there wasn’t enough information on the vaccine. We can attempt to educate ourselves on these topics to try and get a better understanding but the educational system bans certain books. Every state is teaching their children different things which leads to an even bigger divide in our country which furthers their political agenda. We can attempt to distract ourselves from the real world by tuning into movies and even then, there is propaganda. There are movies out there that are funded by the CIA which further manipulates us and promotes propaganda. This is all a domino effect I learned we can’t get away from. Propaganda is everywhere and all of this proves just that.
